Welcome to the Christmas, 2009 issue of eScope! Christmas and New Year are traditionally a time for reflection; for taking account of the past year's activities, and to make plans for the coming year. Here at Prionics we look back at an eventful year. In this issue of eScope you will read about the important developments at Prionics in the past months.

A major achievement during this year was the development of the PrioCHECK^® BVDV RT-PCR. With this kit Prionics entered the RT-PCR market for the first time. The new product complements our portfolio for Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus diagnostics.

The automated PARACHEK^® 2 test, a product that was also developed this year, will contribute significantly to the control of paratuberculosis in cattle herds. This disease is a major health problem in cattle herds. A recent report published in the United Kingdom about the prevalence of the disease in dairy herds there, showed that one in three herds is infected.

Further on, read about the strategic partnership Prionics has entered into with the New Zealand company, AsureQuality, to make innovative farm animal diagnostic and food safety solutions available to global markets. One tangible outcome of the intensified collaboration will be the establishment of a task force to work out innovative solutions to combat bovine Tuberculosis (TB) globally. Their ultimate goal is to achieve “A world free of TB”.

Today, Prionics offers a diverse portfolio of products to meet the various needs of our customers.
