This year Prionics celebrates its 10^th year of existence. It all began 10 years ago with our first product, the Prionics^®-Check WESTERN. The pioneer rapid diagnostic TSE test for post-mortem brain samples that has been used over 20 million times in laboratories all over the world. In the past years we have grown and today we have become a world leader in farm animal diagnostics, with over 50 products. Although we are proud about the past we are even more excited about the future. Prionics looks forward to a year with many promises and continues its pioneer work with new products in the pipeline.
In this eScope you'll read about just one of these innovative new products: the PrioCHECK BVDV for ear notch samples that forms a closed system with the TypiFixTM ear tags. This unique system combines animal identification with disease detection. The PrioCHECK BVDV for ear notches will be demonstrated at our booth in the Stendaler Symposium organized by the Verbraucherschutz of Sachsen Anhalt, Germany.
We do not only develop new products, but we also work on our our existing products to achieve innovative solutions. A new application of a well-known product, Parachek^®, is now officially approved of by the U.S. authorities. Parachek^® is the only test for Paratuberculosis that has been approved for testing of milk samples. Even our first product the Prionics^®-Check WESTERN has found a new application area. A group of the NHSBT has reported the test to be the most sensitive diagnostic test on post mortem human spleen or tonsil tissue using a new protocol developed by Prionics.
