Prionics, an official sponsor of the "Prion 2006" conference, will be represented this year with a booth and participation of the company's experts in a workshop on human blood test development.

The "Prion 2006" conference to be held in Turin, Italy, on October 4-6, 2006, brings together internationally renowned prion experts to discuss the latest scientific findings in the field. The conference program includes presentations on the prevention, control and treatment of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies and on the management and risk analysis of prion diseases. As an official sponsor, Prionics will have representation at a conference booth where visitors will have a chance to talk to Prionics' experienced scientists and product specialists.

The issue of prion testing in human blood is gaining greater importance. This development is represented in the conference program with a workshop on the "Progress with Prion Assays and Blood Screening", organized by the International Plasma Fracitonation Association (IPFA). Here, experts will discuss the present situation as well as the progress in the development of a diagnostic tool to detect prions in blood. Regulatory requirements, technical preconditions and possible strategies for assay assessment are other topics of the workshop.
