The Prionics^®-Check PrioSTRIP, our fast and effective BSE test, can be conveniently automated with a microplate liquid dispensor. In a recent test of over 2110 negative samples, the automated PrioSTRIP^® test recognized all samples correctly. A significant advantage of using the automated PrioSTRIP^® is that the hands-on time of this already fast procedure can be reduced considerably by 15 minutes per plate.

The Prionics^®-Check PrioSTRIP is the fastest and most convenient BSE test available. It is based on the immunochromatographic principle. Strips are simply dipped in homogenized and digested samples and the prion protein in the sample is captured by antibodies on the strip. Results of the test are available in only 100 minutes. Through the automation of the pipetting steps the actual hands-on time can be even further reduced.

Validation of the automated Prionics^®-Check PrioSTRIP with 2144 negative samples was performed at the premises of the Landeslabor Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Dr. Ole Sindt, head of the BSE laboratory of the Landeslabor, provided the laboratory facility, the pipetting robot - a Bio-Tek Precision 2000 - and programmed the instrument. The samples that were tested negative with the Prionics^®-Check LIA, were retested with the PrioSTRIP^® using the BioTEK Precision 2000. "We are extremely satisfied with the results. All samples were identified correctly; none of the negative samples gave an initial reactive result. The validation of positive samples is ongoing, but first results indicate an equally reliable outcome", says Prionics' Elges Lardi who led the validation.
